The same chemistry is used for both the 16 mm and Super 8 mm films. The processor is run at a high speed (10 ft. per minute) allowing rapid dry-to-dry processing of the film. A major inconvenience in the system is the 15 to 20 minute image access time caused primarily by film handling. This was not thought to be a detriment to the early evaluation of this technique, but is clearly not suitable for a successful clinical product. Experiments have been made at Actron to reduce this image access time to less than ten seconds through the use of thermoplastic recording systems.

Mirrors 2, 3 and 4 are placed on a rack and pinion focusing device to allow the optical path length between the hologram and the TV camera to be changed, thus selecting a plane of focus in the reconstructed image. The TV picture is then displayed on a conventional television monitor. FILM PROCESSOR A modified Eastman Kodak Prostar processor is used.
